authorSTREAM.com, is rolling out a premium enterprise service of its PowerPoint sharing platform. authorSTREAM is a web-based free platform for sharing PowerPoint presentations through blogs, websites, and on sites like YouTube or an iPod. The premium version, which costs $9.95 to $29.95 per month per user, has added a few interesting features which makes it worth a look. The platform adds support for creating animations in the slide presentation, allows users to upload 200-500 private presentations (depending on the type of premium membership), and lets users access unlimited video credits, to extend video length, when presentations are converted to video. Each credit allows you to create a video of up to 45 minutes (Free account users can only create videos with a maximum duration of 5 minutes). One useful feature the premium service allows for is the ability to create a branded presentation player. You can also earn money with Googe AdSense revenue sharing off of the branded page.

SlideShare will now allow users to embed YouTube videos into their Flash-based presentations - an oft-requested feature that has countless potential uses. Users will now be able to include personal introductions to their slideshows, offer video that supports the contents of the rest of the presentation, or (in the case of startup pitches) include demonstrations of a website’s features. In the past users wishing to include video in their presentations have been forced to include links to separate video files, which sort of defeated the point of having a dead-simple way to share PowerPoint presentations.

SlideRocket, an online presentation application that produces slideshows that rival (and in many cases, better) PowerPoint, has launched to the general public. The site had previously been available under a public beta, and is now removing the beta tag and introducing a set of pricing tiers along with some impressive new features.

Every once in a while, I come across a Web 2.0/social media tool that not just speaks to me but sings to me. Right away, I get it and really, really want to use it. Flowgram is like a screencast, only better. A screencast uses software on your desktop to capture your visuals and your audio, and you end up with a self-contained file that is…well, contained and not interactive.

When we first covered SlideRocket,it was in private testing. Finally in open beta, SlideRocket is proving to be a beautiful and easy to use tool for creating full featured presentations. SlideRocket offers you the ability to create presentations online using its full featured Web application. You can add charts, graphs, images, animations, special effects, lighting effects and more to the slides. You can also play around with the text, and it offers a downloadable desktop application for viewing the slides offline. SlideRocket also works with a variety of platforms.

Sharing web pages in a conversation shouldn't be as tricky as it is. Sometimes you're on the phone, or speaking to a group of people and there isn't a handy way to bring people along with you from page to page and then let them have easy access to those pages after the conversation is through. Enter Agglom, a simple little service built by Italian developer Enrico Foschi. It's a Firefox plug-in that will make sharing a list of links far easier than it's been before.

SlideRocket, the Flex-based online presentation builder that’s been attracting pre-release plaudits from industry observers, has shared with me its planned pricing when it comes out of beta in September. SlideRocket has had positive coverage not only from ZDnet’s rich Internet application expert Ryan Stewart but also from TechCrunch, Mashable and ReadWriteWeb, which headlined its story Look Out PowerPoint - SlideRocket Rocks.

It’s okay if you don’t recognize the name Nancy Duarte. You know her work. She is a Principal at Duarte, the agency that designed and produced Al Gore’s stunning Keynote presentation for the movie An Inconvenient Truth. When a business presentation is done really well it can be magical and change your perceptions, as anyone who has gathered for a Steve Jobs keynote knows all too well.

Everyone in the industry remains ga-ga over server virtualization and with good reasons. According to ESG Research, over half of organizations large and small have already implemented server virtualization and of these users, 46 percent claim that they are running Tier 1 business applications on virtual hosts. The numbers don't lie. Virtualization has moved well beyond industry hyperbole. Yup, server virtualization is great but it doesn't live in isolation. For server virtualization to work well, it needs to blend with networks, applications, and management tools to create a virtualization architecture. This isn't easy and few vendors understand all of these layers well enough to make things work. As so often happens, CIOs are left to piece together their own solutions. Surely there must be a better way. ***

CHICAGO--The crux of Adobe Systems" platform strategy is in AIR. AIR, or Adobe Integrated Runtime, is a download that lets Web applications run on a desktop. With AIR applications, people can work offline and drag and drop items like graphics or text between Web and desktop applications. AIR is still in beta, but Adobe and many other software developers are already building applications on it. For Adobe"s platform business, AIR gives the company a way to extend its investments in Web documents and Web development tools onto desktops across different operating systems. Rather than compete head-on against Microsoft and Java vendors for developer interest, Adobe"s focus is on Web technologies and services, chief software architect Kevin Lynch said Monday at the company"s Max conference here. ***

If you find yourself making online presentations, or sending out product demos, you might find some value in these three offerings that could make explaining your product or service much much easier, and less costly than hiring a video production team. Average users can easily use these tools after uploading video content to a webspace. First off, you have to capture video. If you are looking to take a video screen capture demonstration of your online service from your PC, you might want to use Snagit. This nice little tool with a free trial allows users to capture and edit whats happening on their screen. Once this is done and uploaded to a webspace you can check out Mojiti. ***
